Dr. Kazuyuki Suzuki Endowment Lecture 2020

NIQR Head Quarters had organised the Dr. Kazuyuki Suzuki Endowment Lecture on 18th January 2020 at Hotel Radha Regent Chennai. Mr. P. V. Raju, ED & CEO, Yazaki India Private Limited was the Chief Guest.                              Mr. G. Krishnasami, Head Corporate QA, M/s RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd was the Guest Speaker; the topic was “Quality & Reliability improvement through TQM”.

Mr. V. Raghavan, National Treasurer, NIQR welcomed all the 109 NIQR Members and invited guests; Mr. G R Janarthanan welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. P. V. Raju with a rose and Mr. G Rangarajan welcomed the Speaker Mr. G. Krishnasami with a rose.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, National Secretary, NIQR displayed a video about NIQR and invited the guests to become members of NIQR.

Mr. K Manikandan, National Vice President, NIQR spoke about the events and activities of NIQR and the future plans and touched upon the vision of touching 2 million hearts by 2025.

Dr. V. Swaminathan, Senior National Vice President spoke about Dr. Kazuyuki Suzuki his achievements and contributions in the field of Reliability and the long association with NIQR.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, National Secretary, NIQR introduced the Chief Guest and Speaker to the audience.

Mr. G. Krishnasami blended TQM with Quality & Reliability in his lecture; a short theory part followed by a case study was appreciated by the audience. He elaborated on the Deming Award criteria and emphasised on Knowledge sharing beyond one’s organisation.

  4. View to usage and Environmental Conditions
  5. View to Failure Mechanism
  6. View to Failure Mode and top event mode
  7. View to Effect

He also explained in detail about 3H; henka, hajimete, and hisashiburi (change, first-time occurrences, and reoccurrences)

The case study of propeller shaft failure was made very interesting with lot of data analysis; which led to finding out the inadequacies of testing done only in certain lab conditions; they took up voluntarily testing in deep-mining areas and found out coal dust entering through seal was the cause for failure.

The Question & Answer session was lively and we have to request many participants to interact with the speaker during dinner.

Chief Guest Mr. P. V. Raju in his address touched upon the increased use of Technologies in Reliability studies today and applauded the younger generation having trust in Technologies as the reliability of technologies is high today.

Dr. V. Swaminathan honoured the Chief guest and Speaker with mementos.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar proposed a vote of thanks.
