CYK Memorial Lecture on 5th November 2016

NIQR Chennai Branch had organised the Prof. C. Y. Krishna Murti Memorial Lecture Meeting on 5th November 2016 at Radha Regent Chennai.

Mr. P. K. Aggarwal, National Vice President, NIQR was the Chief Guest.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, Secretary, NIQR Chennai branch welcomed the gathering and also read out the message from Prof CYK’s daughters thanking NIQR for organising the event.

Dr. G. Rangarajan, National Council Member, NIQR started the proceedings with details of Prof CYK’s involvement as one of the founder members of NIQR & QCFI and recalled his nostalgic memories with Prof CYK.

Mr. P. K. Aggarwal in his Presidential address spoke about the achievements of Prof C Y Krishna Murti and showed his appreciation for Chennai Branch arranging a Memorial Lecture annually.

Dr. N. Rangaswamy, former Joint Secretary of NIQR Chennai Branch introduced the speaker of the day Mr. M. Hariharan Mathrubutham, Vice President – Delivery Excellence, Cognizant Technology Solutions.

Mr. M. Hariharan Mathrubutham explained the methodology of IT companies and Cognizant in particular, who are recruiting 1000s of graduates every year, in making them follow the process to deliver value to the customers. He explained how cultural change has helped a 6000 people company has grown to a 2.5L people company.

He dwelt at length comparing Quality Assurance of Manufacturing Industry and Delivery Excellence or Business excellence of IT Industry. He listed how process non-compliance impacts the Customers and Business Value.

He explained the process approach in execution of a project from Application Development, Testing, Application Maintenance, Infra Support and Business process Service. He was firm the Mantra for Success of today’s IT company lies in “Think more on behalf of Customer to win the Customers’ mindset” and in “Understand the Past, Control the Present & Predict the Future”. His use of a simple common example of IRCTC ticket booking to explain various IT concepts was appreciated by all.

The Q&A session was very lively with queries related to multi various fields.
